About

My name is Tom. Byteherder is at it’s core a single guy operating a large set of tools and technology, aided by some hardcore automation. I also work together with other companies, freelancers and professionals which are top of their field and passionate about what they do.

Good design is obvious. Great design is invisible.

Joe Sparano

Like great design, great software is invisible. It becomes an extension of you, a natural tool to use to solve a problem. It’s when we have to think about our tools, or get annoyed by them, that we notice our tools.

My mission, however, is not just to build tools that are invisible. I want you to experience joy when you’re using them.

To do so requires – first – a certain amount of simplicity. Like a hammer, screwdriver and wrench the best tools don’t require explaining. Yet with these simple tools you can still build incredibly beautiful and intricate things.

And second – a degree of fun. Using cutting-edge research from the psychology field of gamification to form better habits with regards to the problem you’re trying to solve, and reward you for building up your skillset.

If you’re interested in what I’m making, or would like to grab a cup of coffee – be it virtual or reallife in these trying times – then you can find me here:
